How lovely to wake up yesterday and find that Burn Bright is shorlisted/a nominee for a Ditmar Award for Best (SFF&H genre) Novel in Australia in 2012. And to make it even more pleasing, I’m on the list with four women who are all friends. Two the novels on the shortlist have been reviewed on this site by Mandy Wrangles: The Courier’s New Bicycle and Debris. The category had over 180 eligible works this year and I’m thrilled that people saw fit to nominate Burn Bright.

So much has happened in the last few weeks and I’ve had very sporadic Internet. Apologies for having been neglectful of you.

Firstly, Swancon was fantastic; wonderful committee and really pleasant co-guests and fellow con-goers. I had the best fun! To top it off, I got to spend time with two of my favourite people, Ju and Kendra.

It was actually a great reward for meeting my deadlines on Stage Fright and Shine Light. I worked the whole time I was at Swancon and for some days after, to get things done. Then I got to have a weeks holiday watching my son play at the National Basketball Championships. What a thrill. Today, I am feeling very lucky for my life!

Now I’m back, ready to do my manuscript edits and plan the events I have upcoming at the Gold Coast, Bundaberg, Cairns, and Supanova Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane!

As you can see I’ve posted the cover for Night Creatures bk 3 – it’s amazing and I am still astounded by Jaroslaw Kubicki’s talent.

Soon I’ll be doing a post on Saving Grace, the TV series which I’ve found to be extremely moving.

Krista has also done a bunch of Graphic Novel reviews which we’ll be getting to soon. So expect to hear more from me! :)

Over here at MDPWeb headquarters, we’re pretty excited that three of our writers are eligible for Ditmars. Both Cecilia Jansink and Belinda Hamilton are eligible for the Best Fan Fiction Award and Amanda Wrangles and is Eligible for the William Atheling Jr Award for criticism of review. If you haven’t read their work then head over to the Burn Bright website and find them in the left hand column menu. You’ll have to agree they’ve offered consistent, quality material. Think about voting for them please!
