Faber Academy Writing Course

Just heard about this really awesome sounding writer’s course that’s coming to Australia and am helping Allen and Unwin get word out about it. I’ve had a look through the course program and it seems very comprehensive and in depth. There will be guest spots from David Malouf, Kate Grenville, Bernard Cohen and Charlotte Wood and individual consultations as well.

After great success in London, Paris, Dublin and Toronto, Faber has partnered with Allen & Unwin in Australia to offer courses in creative writing. The first is ‘Writing a Novel’ which will be taught by Kathryn Heyman and James Bradley and will run from March to August 2011 at Allen & Unwin’s Crows Nest offices. What’s exciting about it is the hands-on nature of the classes, the publishers and agents reading night and the expectation that participants will finish the course with a complete first draft of their novel. There’s more information about the course outline on our website: www.faberacademy@allenandunwin.com

And to celebrate the Academy coming to our fair shores, I have two copies of  Dracula in Love to giveaway. All you have to do is email me through this website with the names of the two course directors. Easy Peasy!

  • Karyn Markwell

    Dear Marianne

My name is Karyn Markwell, I am the intern for AWMonline, the website of The Australian Writer’s Marketplace published by Queensland Writers Centre.

I would like to invite you to join us as a special guest for an online event at AWMonline. The Writing Race is an online social writing group, where writers of every level meet on Tuesday nights from 7.45pm to set our goals, then work on our own projects offline for one hour from 8-9pm. I can send you an FAQ sheet with more information if you send me your email address.

I regularly invite emerging and established writers to join us, to inspire and motivate the beginner and developing writers who participate in this live forum series. Writing Race guests are promoted through QWC marketing channels, including our blogs The Empty Page and Speakeasy, our social media networks through Facebook and Twitter, and where possible in our monthly magazine WQ. I publicise an author/book cover pic and bio, as well as links to your blog, website, or social media channels.

Please let me know if you are interested in joining us one week between now and the end of May 2011, and I will arrange a free subscription to AWMonline for you to have a look around our website. Subscribers’ contact details are kept completely confidential.

I hope you will join us as a guest Writing Racer – it is a great way to give back to the writing community, as well as to get an hour’s writing done! Our subscribers would be thrilled to enrich their craft through the opportunity of an online writing session alongside you.

    Kind regards

    Karyn Markwell
